2/9/08 -Saw Rock and Roll at the Royale today - So many layers! Freedom of the spirit! So much great classic rock! Such acting! Got to chat a bit with Rufus Sewell afterwards. An unassuming, witty, kind man.

I saw both of these plays in London and they were among my favourites of the year.
We were lucky enough to have McPherson stallward, Jim Norton and he was hilarious. I really like Ron Cook so I’m not sure how I’d feel about Ciaran but his performances always catch me unawares with their control and subtlety.
As for Rock and Roll - sensational. My dear friend Poly went to see it on the day that Syd Barrett’s death was announced and the mood was electric…..in an already electrifying show. I have a buddy who now lives in NYC who saw it more times than she can remember in BOTH the venues it played when she lived in London and has already seen it at least once in NYC.
It’s one of those plays that is truely different every night and so thought provoking. Such a shame they couldn’t bring more of the Uk cast but I’m sure it’s a delight to all.
Completely OT - I shook the hand of Kevin Spacey last night. What a charming man.

Speaking of Kevin Spacey - How do we get him to bring “Beyond the Sea” to Broadway. I already have a set designed in my head for it! He was so over shadowed by Ray… It could give him the acclaim for that film it truly deserved!

p.s. he does have a theatre group in London, so not so totally ‘off topic’.

If you meant to have Kevin do the show you’d have to wait until he gave up his ‘theatre group’.
He’s actually the creative director of one of London’s most respected establishment theatres and whilst he does not spend all his time here, he would not be able to take that much of a break. He often appears in his productions. Next up is Speed the Plow, early next year.
Did you catch him when he toured with the songs? A big regret of mine.

I will be seeing Rock and Roll in February on Broadway and cannot wait. I will be meeting Rufus Sewell. A good friend of mine is his friend, so we should get a bit of a chance to chat. He is an hilarious, irreverent chatter-er!

well 6point, that would be his decision, wouldn’t it. i think that with enough planning, Kevin could do whatever it is he chooses to do, right?
no, i didn’t even know he did a tour with the songs…. so yes, it is something i am sorry i missed.

Hi,
Many thanks for having a word about The Seafarer, but please, don’t misspell Ciarán Hinds’ name
Best regards
