Another cool beautiful day around here. I took time to plant the flowers I got for Mother’s Day from dear daughter. They are my usual safe impatiens and some new star flower plants. Now the porch planters are full, and the ancient urn in the yard is blooming. I have oodles of extras and will put them in the back yard flower bed.

I am waiting for my yard guy to come do the Spring clean up. He seems to have disappeared, and I hate to go through getting someone else. We have used him for years.

The yard, however, is raggedy and overgrown and needs help soon.

Terrible news about the soldier who killed five fellow soldiers in Baghdad.  All were in a stress unit there. Let’s just get out of there!! It will take years for the men and women who served to gain a measure of normality.

It’s fair weather here in S.E France, looks like summer. We were much surprised when landing Sunday night at Lyon Airport (22°C at 11.00 pm). We had celebrated my husband’s birthday together with mine and our anniversary with our 2 daughters, my son in law and our grandchildren : Robin and Marine of 4 and 6 in Corfu (Greece). Wonderful family week, sometimes a bit chilly (it had rained a lot the week before). Corfu is really a lovely green island with breathtaking views through olive- trees, lemon-trees laden with big ripe lemons, roses in all colors down to the blue and green clear sea.
There is no longer lilac here, but the roses are all blooming throughout the garden. I started pouring bio fertilizer on the rose-bushes (after 4 years without). The busy bees are flying everywhere and blackbirds hurrying to finish their nests … a good sign, that’s the May I like actually !
Mother’s Day in France is late May and I brought back some typical ingredients to gather the whole family to taste some recipes from Corfu and share our feelings and films, that will be nice.
